Wolf Creek Volunteers

Wolf Creek Little League is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization.  The league can't exist without the efforts and contributions of parents and family of our players, so GET INVOLVED!  You can help out, even if you know nothing about baseball.  Contact our President for some info on volunteer opportunities.  We are actively recruiting coaches for Teeball, A, AA and AAA!!!!

 

WCLL requires that all Board Members, Managers, Coaches, and any person helping on the field, pass a background check prior to working with children. Background forms are at the bottom of this page and can be mailed to the league, see the Contact page for the mailing address.  New background checks are done each year.

Team Volunteer Opportunities

 

Position Time Commitment Job Description
Manager 5-20 hours/week Team leader, head coach, responsible for overall practice plan, scheduling and team selection at higher levels
Coach 5-20 hours/week Helps manager run drills, coach team and organize games.  May be asked to stand in for manager when necessary
Asst Coach 3-15 hours/week Helps with practices, may act as base coach or bench manager during games
Team Parent 3-5 hours/week Coordinates snack schedules, team photos, fun day participation, team party and trophies.  May also assist manager with administrative tasks.
Scorekeeper Games only Keep track of at bats, outs and scoring during games.  Minimal time requirement, simply game attendance and attention to detail.
Statistician Games only OPTIONAL ROLE for competitive teams.  Keeps track of various statistics for the team (hits, walks, extra bases, pitching stats, etc).  Minimal time requirement, simply game attendance and attention to detail.

 

League Volunteer Opportunities

Board Member 5-20 hours/month Responsible for leading an area of league operations as well as overall league direction.  See the About page for information on Board Positions
Committee Member 5-20 hours/season Assists with certain areas of league operations such as Fun Day or Sponsorship activities.  Lesser commitment than a board member position.
Event Volunteer 3-5 hours total Help WCLL with a league event such as Fun Day (Running a station) or Evaluations

 

Volunteer Extras

 

Little league volunteers are critical to the success of the league, and there are ways to MAXIMIZE that wonderful contribution of time.

  • Employer Match: Many employers in the area (Nike, Symantec, Intel, etc) will give donations to charity matching employee donations or volunteer work.  Fill out a simple form with hours worked (or dollars donated), and follow your company instructions.  Our Treasurer will validate the form, and the company will contribute funds to our league! 

  • Tax effect: Did you know that contributions to WCLL can be tax deductible?  If you donate money or equipment, that may be deductible on your taxes.  If you are a coach, you may be able to write off your mileage (14 cents per mile) to the practices and games!  Sample info can be found here. Check with your tax advisor for help.
