2008 District 4
Baseball 8-10 Year Old CHAMPIONS!
The Wolf Creek Little
League Honors team swept the 8-10 Honors tournament, winning 6 straight games to
claim the championship. The overwhelming barrage of stellar pitching,
TIGHT defense and powerful hitting kept the opponents on their heels the entire
time. 11 players contributed to the win, see the team picture below.
On Monday, July 7th,
at Tigard's Cook Park, Wolf Creek Little League soundly defeated a powerful Murrayhill team that was previously
undefeated. The offense got out of the gates quickly, scoring 7 runs and
batting through the entire lineup. The stunned Murrayhill team went into
the dugout, ready for their turn. Behind 8 year old Jacob Cox's pitching,
the WCLL crew BLANKED Murrayhill in the first inning. In the 2nd inning,
WCLL capitalized on being at the top of the order again, tacking on another 3
runs. Cox continued to pitch well, getting some great defense behind him
(including a crazy stop by Evan Lascelles at shortstop that even left him
shocked he had made the play). After Murrayhill's tough defense and strong
pitching blanked WCLL in the 3rd, WCLL went out and added 4 more insurance runs
to put the game out of reach and well into the 10 run mercy rule range.
Needing to hold Murrayhill to less than 4 runs to win the game after 4 innings,
Cox continued his dominant performance, closing the game out on a line drive to
Zack Petersen in center field.
