Ability will be
determined at tryouts. See the EVAL Page for
details on upcoming WCLL Tryouts.

Age (Guideline) |
Description |
| Tee Ball |
5-6 years
EVALUATION OPTIONAL |
For boys and girls
with little or no prior experience. Emphasis is on the basics of
throwing, catching, hitting and rules of the game. The ball is hit
off the tee. Practice/games are 2-3 times per week. |
A
|
7-8
years
EVALUATION OPTIONAL |
Pitching
is done by a coach or machine. Baseball/Softball fundamentals are
the focal point. Scores are kept. Practices/games are 2-3 times per
week. A 6 year old may play at this level providing one year of
T-ball has been played and the league approves. Players are
generally placed on teams according to the school they attend.
However, as rosters are filled, teams may be comprised of players
from several different schools. |
| AA |
9-10
years
EVALUATION MANDATORY |
Pitching
is done by the players. Rules are close to conventional baseball
rules. Practice/games are 3-4 times per week. An eight year old
may play at this level providing he attends the player evaluation
and meets the qualifications. All players 9 and older must
attend the player evaluation. Attempts are made to place
players according to the school they attend. However, players may
be placed on teams to balance the overall skill level of the teams. |
| AAA |
10-12 years
EVALUATION MANDATORY |
The rules are closer
to conventional baseball. For example base stealing is permitted.
Practice/games are 3-5 times per week. Teams are organized by
player evaluations. 12 year olds are not permitted to pitch. |
| AAAA (not used
at this time, assess for 2009) |
10-12 years
EVALUATION MANDATORY |
District 4, which WCLL is
part of, is exploring adding an AAAA division. This would be a
level higher than AAA. WCLL will decide whether to enter a team at
this level after District 4 makes their decision. |
| Majors |
11-12 Years
EVALUATION MANDATORY |
This is the most competitive
level and selection is based on the player evaluations and drafting
by the coaches. Practice/games are 4-5 times per week. |
|
At levels AA and higher, WCLL
generally interlocks with neighboring Little Leagues to provide a
wider pool of teams to compete against. Interlock rules may vary.
For example, pitching rules at the AA level will be determined in
conjunction with the leagues that WCLL interlocks with.

Division FAQs:
|
What age does my child have to be to play T-Ball?
|
|
The League age of the child is what age he/she is on April 30th of
that league year (April 30, 2007). T-Ball is from ages 5 to 7 years
old.
|
|
How can I be sure the coaches are upstanding people in our
community?
|
|
Every possible effort is made to be sure that these people are there
to help the kids learn and play softball/baseball. Wolf Creek Little
League does a background check on every person that will have
contact with the kids. (Manager/Coaches/Parents helping out, MUST
COMPLETE A BACKGROUND CHECK) But being a board member does not
exclude us from having a background check on ourselves. This is an
annual happening and is now a REQUIREMENT by Little League
Baseball/Softball.
|
|
How many games does T-Ball play?
|
|
T-Ball plays 20 games. 1 game during the week and one on the weekend
(no Sunday games are allowed). The season starts with practices
beginning in March and the games start April 1st.
|
|
Does Wolf Creek play at a competitive level?
|
|
TeeBall is to be played at an instructional level, both during
practices and during the games. During the games no score will be
kept and there are no strike outs or walks. Every player will play
every position on the field. This is to give all the kids a chance
to play everywhere, and later on in upper divisions, the kids can
specifically concentrate on 3 to 4 positions. T-Ball is on the most
basic level of play, teaching them to catch, throw, hit, and run the
bases, but most of all to make it FUN!
As players move up in divisions, the competition increases,
culminating with the very competitive Majors level play.

|
Are there ways to help my child start learning
now about baseball/softball now?
|
| Yes! Wolf Creek Little League
will run clinics during the winter, stay tuned for dates and times.
You can also work with them on their throwing motion and batting stance.
The internet is full of drills and resources for helping your child
improve. |
