Wolf Creek Little League - The Future

As a small league, WCLL has enjoyed many years of great baseball, and lots of wonderful families have progressed through the league over the years. We have seen up years, and we have seen down years, but the volunteers have managed to keep things going for the kids throughout it all.  We are looking at making a move that will improve the Little League baseball experience for the whole area.
Those that have been around for a while have seen our struggles with size and boundaries.  As a small league, we have less flexibility when building teams and it can make team assignments tricky.  We also compete for players with 3 different JBO programs, and lose kids year after year when they want to play with the kids that they go to school with.  Running a small league takes just as much work as a bigger league, except you get to do it with fewer volunteers to draw on!
Earlier this season, we began talking with the District and the surrounding leagues (Cedar Mill LL, Sun Creek LL, Beaverton Area LL), looking for answers.  The plan that the Board came up with was not the one we would have expected, but will be the best decision for the long term Little League future in Beaverton/Aloha. WCLL is planning to split into 3 parts, and merge with the surrounding Little Leagues based on school boundaries (where you WOULD go if you attend private school).  The plan:

Cedar Mill Little League -  Ridgewood, Barnes, and William Walker elementary schools (Sunset High School)
Beaverton Area Little League - Beaver Acres (Aloha High School)
Sun Creek Little League -  McKinley and Elmonica (Westview High School)

This would consolidate ALL players from each High School into one little league, allowing closer alignment with where the players will attend school, and hopefully an overall improvement in the playing experience for all players! For those parents of graduating 12 year old players, there are Junior programs offered in these leagues for 13-14 year olds to play in (90 foot bases and 56 foot pitching distance).

The objective is to complete the merge immediately following the baseball season, with players interested in Fall baseball registering with the new leagues.  The 3 leagues are excited to welcome the new families, and will certainly be looking for coaches, volunteers and board members from WCLL to be active in their leagues.

Wolf Creek thanks everyone that has played a part in the success of the league. While we are sad to see our league go separate ways, the leagues we are joining are some outstanding baseball organizations.  You can expect to join well run leagues with strong baseball traditions.  If you have any questions, please contact president@wolfcreekll.org.  More info will be shared as it becomes available.

SOFTBALL now part of Willow Creek!

WCLL, Sun Creek and Cedar Mill have combined to form Willow Creek Softball.  Registration is handled through the Willow Creek website, with all players from the 3 leagues gathering in one great league.

Congratulations on your charter Willow Creek!

Information on the District 4 Challenger Program

The Challenger Division was established in 1989 as a separate division of Little League Baseball to enable boys and girls with physical and mental disabilities, ages 5-18 or the completion of high school, to enjoy the game of baseball along with the millions of other children who participate in this sport worldwide.

Teams are set up according to abilities, rather than age, and can include as many as 15-20 players, who can participate in one of three levels: Tee-Ball, Coach-Pitch or Player Pitch.

Some of our teams will get the chance to assist with a challenger game this season.  It is a great experience for our children, and something that can have a big impact on many lives!
